About the United Ride:
The United Ride was envisioned as a way to raise funds to support the Davidson County United Way. As we have always been told there is strength in numbers, therein lies the beauty and success of the United Way as a charitable organization. There are more than 1350 United Way Agencies in as many communities serving untold million of people just like you and I. As we are all aware our local area has been hit harder than most in recent years with job layoffs, downsizing, plant closings etc. With this type of environment the United Way is more important than ever, with our base of contributors shrinking and our potential client base expanding its more important than ever to contribute in whatever way possible.
Most of us at some point in our lives will be touched in some way by the United Way or one of its partner agencies. Through its contributions and funding the United Way supports over 30 different agencies in Davidson County. Some of these agencies would not be able to function without the support from the United Way. Some examples of partner agencies are:
- Hospice -- Support services for the terminally ill and their families
- Special Olympics -- Annual games and events for the mentally challenged
- Meals on Wheels -- Food for the elderly and shut ins
- Davidson Medical Ministries – Medical, Dental and Pharmacy services for our un-insured neighbors.
The United Ride is just one way you can help your community through your support of the United Way. Please consider a contribution through your employer or working as volunteer for one of the United Way Agencies. You will come away with a new appreciation for the difference you can make in someone’s life.
We hope you will join us on our ride and the festivities to follow and that you come away with a new appreciation for the United Way and the services and benefits it provides to our communities. These benefits would not be available without the support of people like you. Thank you in advance for your support for the United Ride and the United Way.
